Performance April 2021-Syfe/Stashaway/DBS Digiportfolio

26 April 2021

Roboadvisors has been a rising form of investment in recent years. Here are the performance for the Roboadvisors that I have invested in.

I have invested in three robo advisors in Singapore since Jan 2021 - Syfe, Stashaway and DBS Digiportflio. Three months is hardly an indicator of success, however, I shall update my progress here monthly so that you guys can have a clearer understanding of each platform.

Stashaway

One of the first few Roboadvisor in Singapore is Stashaway. Their unique strategy known as ERAA (Economic Regime-based Asset Allocation) allows passive investing so that you can spend your valuable time doing other things you like. I have two portfolios with them, one is a 22% risk index, the other is 36%. Let's find out how Stashaway is performing since Jan till now!

Stashaway 22%

Stashaway 36%

The 22% inception date was in Jan, while 36% is a new addition in Feb. The reason behind this is because Stashaway only allows a maximum risk of 22% portfolio at the beginning. You have to email or call them to unlock the 36% maximum risk. Hence, my two portfolios.

StashAway returns may not be that great due to its 20% gold allocation and KWEB is dragging the portfolio down. Nevertheless, it is still a popular investing platform and well-diversified. I believe in the long run, it will reap a good amount of green cash flow.

The reason behind this investment is to provide a mid-term investment for a portion of my money, for a peroid of up to ten years (Stashaway recommends up to 5 years). Meanwhile, I intend to hold for more than 20 years or more until retirement for Syfe's equity100.

Syfe

I am very satisfied with Syfe's performance so far, it's Equity 100 features an impressive return of 6.21% within a short time period of 3- months!

For those that are new, Equity 100 is Syfe's 100% stocks portfolio introduced last year. No bonds, no gold, just pure equity ETFS such as QQQ and the S&P500. It is a long term investment, but i am impressed with the gains so far.

DBS Digiportfolio

Last but not lest, we have DBS very own robo advisor known as Digiportfolio. As you can see, the performance has not been very spectacular since my first investment.

I am currently in their Asia Level 4 portfolio, which started in Jan 2021. The furthest drawdown i had was around -$60, the gains were next to none. This is largely due to MSCI China UCITS ETF that has been dipping a lot lately, yet to recover.

My strategy moving forward

In the past three months, I have been doing DCA $250 monthly into each of the portfolios (except SA 36%). However, moving forward, I will be changing my strategy...

I am toying with the idea of consolidating Stashaway's portfolios into one 36% instead of the current two.

Instead of $250 monthly, I will DCA $100 monthly instead to each of the portfolios. I am also considering replacing DBS Digiportfolio with Endowus as my third robo advisor. As I feel that DBS Digiportfolio has not been performing to my expectations and the management fees are much higher then Syfe or Endowus at a rate of 0.75%. Stay tuned to my new Endowus portfolio update!

Conclusion

That is it for April's performance, I will update monthly so that you can track their performance. I will also be doing an in-depth review of the Robos in detail. Feel free to leave a comment or feedback.

To sum it up, Robo advisors are well-rounded investment platforms catered for those who are new to investments (like me) or have limited time to actually do stock pickings. Definitely worth your time to check it out!
